This thread is reworked to give you an overview of all the combatisch ships (21) you can buy in the game and how they compare from a bounty hunting outfitting perspective.
I made a Excell overview : docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hVz0RDwvaduTVvpKW0xMCc7V-4GiXrQif3EZsdANacE/edit?usp=sharing
Remember that the basic setup applied to all ships is
Depending on this ship there is further room for improvement (see "Power used" column). The first thing that should be on your mind to add are Shield Cell Boosters.
It is by default sorted descending on how much the ship would cost you with the Eagle as a basic comparison at the bottom. You can change the sorting on the Excell to check what you interested in.
This should help you plan / experiment with your BH ships.
Note: Legoraz and me found out yesterday evening that a Vulture outiffitted with a lower rated Shield Generator D performs better then rating A if combined with Shield Boosters. This trick is generic but for now Vulture is the only one where I applied this since the other ships had room for rating A.
Update: There are really interesting conclusions coming out of the Excell.
For example, if you sort on DPS descending, you notice that the Vulture is on the low end since number of weapon slots do matter. Despite the Vulture having 2 Large weapon slots a Viper III with 2 Medium + 2 Small slots still does 4 more DPS. What is also striking is the ASP Explorer since for 34M it scores very good ! It has the same DPS as a Fer-De-Lance (which costs 50M more) and with 374 shields the ASP still says in the middle half of the table.
Other things stand out:
Special note: there are obviously many many different viable builds besides just stacking shield boosters and beam lasers, for example, a Bi-Weave Vulture build w/ Fixed Pulse Lasers can have more shields (504) that recharge 3x times as fast and you could even go for a better hull (618+), etc (or you could even take a Vulture up to 558 shields) all that in exchange for a "reduced" DPS from Beam to Pulse (it still eats through anaconda's so it's relative). So you can apply different idea's but the purpose of the overview is to show ship potential, strenghts, weaknesses in terms of bounty hunting and so using a single fixed build on all ships reaches that goal. In the end, some people just like beam lasers period while other's like multi-cannons even in RES dealing with the ammo depletion. In the end it's personal preference. Same goes for the ships you "should" use for BH. There are "typical" progression paths (Eagle, Viper, Vulture, FAS, FDL, etc) but this overview shows you can easily deviate from it and go for another ship (even if it means you go for a Federal Dropship lol). Since in the end it's all about fun and the more ships, weapons, etc there are the more fun it becomes.

Remember that the basic setup applied to all ships is
- Maximise Shields
- DPS is focus on Fixed Beam lasers, combined with Gimballed Multi/Normal Cannons if room left
- 0E Kill Warrant Scanner
- E class Life Support
- D class Thrusters

Other things stand out:
- The Imperial Courier has better shields then the Vulture, better DPS and costs less (the tradeoff is the agility)
- The Diamondback Explorer is "on par" with the Viper IV having more jump range and a bit more agility for a bit less DPS
- The Federal Corvette is "odd" and doesn't seem a good combat ship, it has better shields then Anaconda but gets outperformed on all other domains and compared to the Cutter it is simply no match
- The Federal Gunship has outstanding DPS for such low money cost
- The ASP Scout is not a bad ship actually, it has same DPS as Viper III/IV but it is more agile
